AAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

I remembered I had a blog once, then I looked it up, and I realized, it's been a year since I've posted anything.

A whole year.

One whole year.

Hmmmmm.

I'll have to start thinking of things to post.

Mind you, I have no idea if anyone still follows this thing or not. Maybe posting things was superfluous and unnecessary. But it was almost like having fun. Ok, I should be posting things. Back at it then... I suppose.

Please stay tuned... hopefully for not too long.

A Threat to Navigable Waterways

I recently came across this issue. After reading about it from numerous sources, checking facts and the issues at hand, I feel this is a real threat to something that makes a Canadian a Canadian.

The government wants to change the law to exclude all minor waterways from federal protection. What is a minor waterway? If a watercraft with 1.5m of draft cannot pass, it is a minor waterway. That means that every smaller river, creek, pond, and lake will not be under federal protection from obstructions to navigation and the environmental impact studies required for any construction. As well, all bridges, causeways, and dams will be exempt from impact studies. This means that almost all construction that affects a waterway will be approved without the normal checks and balances required. The government is complaining about a backlog of work due to the impact studies required. But removing any of Canada's waterways from protection is an offense to our cultural heritage. Canada was founded as a direct result of the ability of people to navigate it's waters. The Navigable Waters Protection Act (NWPA) was instituted by Canada's first Prime Minister to protect these waterways as the arteries that keep Canada alive. Now the government wants to turn it's back on this heritage in order to simply fast track some conveniences.

The deed is done

Ok, I know, it's been a very long time without a post. But I finally have something to share.

Alana has been doing very well. We love having her around, what a blessing. Laura and Erik love having Alana around as well, and are learning to be responsible older siblings. But that's not the news.

Ok, here's the news. I am no longer a productive member of society. Yup, this here guy is only for entertainment purposes. I should clarify a bit, add a "re" in front of the "pro" part. Now you might get the joke. Yes, I was the man, took it like a man, and now I'm just an "it", a plaything, a toy. Ahhhhh, the things we do.....

It's going well, the procedure was quick and painless. The recovery has gone surpisingly well. Only one bad stretch that has caused some pain (I was getting out of the minivan... just stepped out and everything got tight... yeah) but other than that it's just been discomfort. But hey, without discomfort, how would we know that we're alive right?
